European day of action against commercialisation April 7

Health and Social protection commercialisation affects all European countries and abroad. Everywhere, at local or national level, organisations, alliances or collectives oppose their resistance and carry alternatives.

The slogan of the day :

Our Health is not for sale !
Stop privatisation and commercialisation
Free-trade (TTIP & Co) threats our Health !
Together – users, profesionals, citizens – let’s be mobilised !

Finance, industry and transnational corporations monopolize our health through numerous mechanisms, especially :

• a strong decrease of the necessary socialized ressources to satisfy the basic needs of the population
• a strong opening of the « market » to private providers (insurances, operators, private clinics) and private management logics in public institutions (outsourcing, management)
• favorishing risks individualisation against solidarity mechanisms

National and european legislations (austerity, fiscal compact and economic governance, public procurements) as well as the trade policies of the EU (TTIP, CETA, TISA and other free-trade agreements) weakened our healthcare systems putting heavy threats to our health and sanitarian but also social, environmental and agricultural standards influencing directly our health.

The consequences of these european, national or local policies are especially :

• the degradation of Healthcare quality
• obstacles (financial, geographical) to Health access for different social categories
• lowering of wages and work intensification in the sector
• degradation of the social determinant of Health : poverty, education, pollution, etc...

Let’s organise in every city or institution an activity to denounce this commercialisation of our Health !
