In May 2011, took a first European Conference in defense of public health services place in Amsterdam with the participation of activists from Germany, France, Great Britain, Irland, Poland and Sweden. The aim was to exchange about experiences of local struggles, share information about the attacks against public health services and discuss power relations in different European Memberstates.

Since, the movement expands itself and differents European conferences took place in Poland, France and Belgium calling for action and raise awareness « for the right of European people to Health and against the dismantling of public health services and its marketization ».

This movement is a big step forward. Gathering political and civil society activists as well as trade union organizations to act at the European level was not an easy task. Converging social movements and struggles is one of the main objectives of the European Health Network.
